Ann Lönn-glass artist

Ann Lönn has been active as a glass artist since 1994 working in her own workshop.

The glass is powerful, rough and has a primitive expression

Ann Lönn works in a technique that is called slumping-fusing. Glass is cut and put into moulds. In the kiln the layers of glass melt together and form bowls, plates, jewellery and art pieces. The production consists of unique pieces and short series of objects for use.

For decoration Ann uses thin metallic foils that she melts into the glass. This gives the glass a powerful, rough, primitive expression. The earthly scale of colours gets a metallic glow.

Inspiration

Inspiration comes out of traditional technique and knowledge but during the working process new creative ideas occur. Ann likes to combine old techniques in a new and surprising way.
